| The French-American Fund for the Performing
Arts was created in 1999 by the Cultural
Services of the French Embassy in collaboration with the AFAA
(Association Française d'Action Artistique).
This fund is dedicated to stimulating French-American cooperation
in the presentation and production of French performing arts in
the United States. For the first few years however, it has focused
uniquely on theater projects, with an emphasis on contemporary writing.
In the future, it will broaden its scope to include other disciplines
such as music and dance.
Its goal is actively to encourage American institutions - theaters,
festivals, and universities - to produce or present theater projects
and text based theatrical productions either by French playwrights
or with the participation of French professionals (directors, actors,
scenographs and others...). Translations, publication projects and
artists residencies will also be eligible.
Étant donnés for the Performing Arts operates under
the auspices of FACE, which is incorporated under American law as
a not-for-profit organization.
