Etant
donnés: The French-American Fund for the Performing
Arts is dedicated to encouraging French-American cooperation
in theater in the United States and in France.
Etant donnés offers financial support in the form
of grants to :
1 | American nonprofit institutions producing
or presenting theater projects (tours, residencies, translations)
either of contemporary French playwrights or with French theater
professionals (directors, actors, stage-designers, etc.).
New productions of classical repertory are only eligible if
they involve collaboration with a French director/playwright/other
professionals.
2 | French nonprofit institutions presenting
substantial collaborative projects involving American theater
professionals or presenting American productions of the work
of contemporary French authors.
The Fund was created in 1999 by the Cultural
Services of the French Embassy and CulturesFrance,
under the auspices of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
From its inception, Etant donnés has been supported
by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, the Association
Française d’Action Artistique (AFAA), the French
Ministry of Culture and Communication (DMDTS),
La Société
des Auteurs et Compositeurs Dramatiques (SACD),
the Association
Beaumarchais, the Florence Gould Foundation,
the Laura Pels Foundation and by additional
private and corporate support in the United States. The Fund
seeks additional financial support from individuals, foundations,
corporations, and government agencies in the United States
and in France.
