"A real ensemble piece. It makes you fantasize about the pleasure of living next door to everyone involved." Amy Taubin, The Village Voice.

Set in the working-class area of Marseilles, Marius et Jeannette tells the love story between two very unlikely people. Jeannette, a single mother with a history of unlucky relationships meets the ageing Marius, a recovering alcoholic when he catches her stealing paint from an abandoned factory. Instead of turning her over to the authorities, he offers to help paint her house. As a misunderstanding threatens to destroy the relationship their concerned neighbors become involved in an effort to patch things up.
